Ans. (a) Five important steps that occurred during the process of decomposition are fragmentation eaching, catabolism humification, and mineralization. Humus and mineral (inorganic nutrients) are obtained by humification and mineralization.

Mineralization is also responsible for the release of inorganic substances, both minerals ( $K^{+}, {Mg}^{+ +}, {Ca}^{+ +}, and {MH}_{4}^{+}$ ) and non-minerals like $H_{2} O$ , and ${CO}_{2}$ from dead organic matter of plant's and animal's remains.
